Doctor Directory
The Dakshina Kannada branch of the Indian Medical Association (IMA) has brought out a members directory.
The branch, which is the second largest in Karnataka, includes over 600 life and annual members. The 511-page directory is for the benefit of members, and educational and medical institutions.
Edited by B. Devdas Rai, President of the branch, the directory contains the profiles of members, names, photographs, telephone numbers, and addresses of college, clinic, hospital and residence.
It even contains family details such as name of the spouse, children, and their date of birth, wedding anniversary, and e-mail ids. There is also a section with IMA history, and a message from A. Nagaraj, State President, IMA.
Dr. Rai says that it was Habeeb Rahman, Chairman, Unity Health Complex who mooted the idea of publishing the directory during his tenure as president of the district branch in 2001-02. Medical laboratories and hospitals sponsored the cost of the directory.
It also contains additional information about hospitals, ambulance services, blood banks, newspaper bureaus and the police.
